Jane Noland Wilks: I graduated from Pittsburg in the spring of '69. I had gotten married, soon had a daughter and started teaching that fall. My career last 29 years. In that time, I had another daughter, divorced, and married my current husband, Greg Wilks, who had two sons. I left teaching but started working at Hobby Lobby as department head of fabrics. That lasted 15 years. All along I have had a sewing business which specializes in home décor. We now have been married 30 years and have 9 grandkids and 1 great grandson. I retired from HL almost 3 years ago. We travel in our 5th wheel when I am not needing to sew, have a large garden every year and watch kids. I love being retired and although I am busy, it's on my schedule.

Carol Calvin Poole: Since graduation, I have lived in a number of wonderful places (Kansas City, Louisville KY, Roanoke VA, Jacksonville - Gainesville - Tallahassee FL, New York City, Baton Rouge LA, Washington DC) but have been happily settled in CO for 30 years. My work in criminal justice and my husband Tom's career in music (opera and teaching voice) took us to interesting places. I retired from the State of CO in 2007 and from the Department of Justice in 2010, but do consultant work for the National Criminal Justice Association and volunteer in my community. We have two wonderful sons Joshua who is a producer in NYC and Matthew who is spending a year traveling and working in New Zealand. Tom and I also love to travel and hope to visit Matthew in December. Thanks to our wonderful reunion committee. It's wonderful to read what everyone has been up to. I'm looking forward to the 50th!

Roanne left to be with the Lord January of 2000. I have since retired from the electricians union ( Local 3 IBEW, New York City) and moved to New Bern NC.

Sandra Moses DeFeo: After graduation I tried marriage. Dismal failure ! I then took my musical talents, formed a band and we traveled and did our thing in a flower painted VW bus. Those were the days. After growing up a bit and coming to my senses, I began a career in banking in Kansas City where I met my husband, Sonny, who was in the bar & restaurant business. We left Kansas City in 1985 moved to Scottsdale Az. where I continued my career in mortgage lending. I just retired from that in 2012. Perry Fellwock: After graduating I joined the National Security Agency. Stationed in the Mid East, Europe & then Vietnam.  I became an anti-war activist & I was the first NSA whistleblower. As my Wikipedia reference states, because of my revelations, the U.S. Senate passed legislation in 1973 to stop the NSA from spying on American citizens. After 9/11/2001, the law was reversed, enabling the government to expand the warrantless surveillance of American citizens. This May, the Court of Appeals in Manhattan ruled it is illegal for the NSA to collect phone records in bulk. For 40 years, I have opposed illegal spying while I worked as a technologist on Wall St. & in London.  I live now on Long Island & have a fine art, antique & numismatic business in my retirement. I left the Twin Towers area 20 minutes before the first plane hit in 2001 & I survived Super Storm Sandy in 2012, so I have great sympathy for the survivors of the Joplin tornado.  Have a great 50th reunion!"

My wife Barbara has been retired since December 2003, so now we both get to sleep late. Our daughter Stephanie and her family also live in Kansas City, so we get to see her and our amazing granddaughter Caroline quite often. Barb is busier than I, with numerous quilt groups and volunteer work. I am finding some volunteer opportunities, while also enjoying more time in the woods bird-watching, and reading some of those books I never had time to read while working. We both enjoy traveling, which is easier now. I am trying to spend more time catching up with friends I have not kept in touch with, so I would enjoy hearing from some of you. I am looking forward to the 50 year reunion this fall.

Margaret Pickett:  I can’t help but be amused by the number of my male classmates who mention still being married to their “first wife”—makes my decision to remain single a solid one—although I do appreciate the tongue-in-cheek comments that made me laugh! I left Joplin to get my degree from Mizzou, then landed in St. Louis, where I began employment with the Head Start program. Must have enjoyed it as I stayed for more than 30 years, in a variety of positions as I climbed the “success ladder”. I loved the children and their families and my colleagues, and my work as an early childhood educator and manager. Then I started work as the Missouri First Steps Director for St. Louis City and St. Charles County, and was thrilled, as a side benefit, to only travel a scant mile to work, instead of the 30 miles to “the City”, as I had purchased a home in St. Charles. I am currently CEO of My Wonderful World of Retirement, and loving every minute of it. My alarm clock broke the day after I retired, and I have never replaced it. I get home to Joplin a couple of times a year to visit with my “GrandN’s”, who live nearby. Keeps me young. Kudos to those who worked so hard to arrange this reunion!

We have a son Conrad who just graduated from Ringling College of Art and who is my partner in Florida Home and Patio Furniture Inc. Linda teaches PE and keeps us in shape running, biking, hiking and of course I love working with Conrad full time. We still own a home next to Twin Hills but just can't return as often as we would like. We always miss Joplin.
